What is a precious metals IRA?

Let’s break it down; An IRA is a (individual) retirement account which can be used to earn and secure retirement savings. A Precious Metals IRA functions very much the same, the difference being that physical Precious Metals is held rather or along side of typical paper assets.

Eligible Accounts

The types of retirement accounts that permit this are Roth IRAs, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, HSA, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), and 401(k)s, Roths, SEPs, Traditional IRAs, HSAs, TSPs and 401(k)s


Precious Metals is used as an investment for a variety of reasons but the main two are inflation hedging and portfolio diversification. Inflation hedging is an investment intended to protect against the negative effects of currency inflation. Portfolio diversification significantly reduces volatility, further securing your investment.
